Our Men’s Rehab Rehab
Focuses on the Total Person
Great Lakes Men’s Rehab, part of Adult & Teen Challenge, is here to support men fully. We focus on your whole self—spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and educational aspects—to prepare you for life after addiction.
Here’s how it works:
Spiritually: We believe that finding a new life in Christ empowers you to overcome challenges and be more productive.
Emotionally: We help heal past hurts. Biblical studies help your mind grow, creating a foundation for a new and positive life.
Physically: We care for your physical needs in a drug-free environment, providing food and recreational activities. These are essential for your success in the program.
Socially: Learn to navigate relationship challenges with peers and family, applying what you learn in the classroom to your everyday life.
Educationally: Our curriculum is designed to teach skills for success in society. From health aspects of addiction to setting boundaries, managing anger, coping skills, and preventing relapse, we aim to build a strong foundation for your recovery journey.
Why Choose Our Men’s Rehab First?
Our program at Great Lakes Men’s Rehab, part of Adult & Teen Challenge, differs from the short-term options you often hear about. Those quick-fix programs might temporarily help with addiction, but they don’t get to the root of the problem. This leads to repeat visits and ongoing issues, costing significantly each time.
Every day, we welcome individuals who have tried 5, 10, 20, or even 30 short-term rehabs without success. They could have saved time and money by choosing Great Lakes Men’s Rehab from the start!
What Sets Great Lakes Adult & Teen Challenge Apart?
We stand out as one of the few programs dedicated to a year-long commitment for each individual we work with. While this is a significant financial investment from both the organization and the community, it’s the time required to achieve the remarkable recovery rates we see. The day-to-day structure, sense of community, and emphasis on faith over such an extended period gradually guide individuals away from harmful and drug-influenced thinking. Instead, they become aware of a purpose for their life and adopt a new way of thinking and living.
This transformation involves letting go of drug or alcohol abuse making room for self-love, peace, happiness, purpose, and excitement for the future.
Can Forced Avoidance of Substances Truly Resolve the Issue?
In simple terms, the answer is “No.” Keeping an individual away from drugs or alcohol through detoxing is a temporary solution that only holds in a controlled environment. Once out of that environment, without addressing underlying life issues, the individual is likely to return to their addiction. Contrary to viewing addiction as a disease, it’s recognized as a learned behavior used to mask personal hurts and longings, providing initial relief.
While Adult & Teen Challenge faith-based rehabs extend the separation from addicting substances, the more substantial effort lies in replacing the addiction with an entirely new way of life. Gradually reintegrating individuals into the community with a fresh life goal empowers them to steer clear of negative behaviors and environments independently.
At Great Lakes Men’s Rehab, additional focus is placed on teaching responsibility, work ethic, and pride in work. Crucially, they instill truthfulness and trustworthiness in each individual, recognizing these as the foundation of meaningful relationships and fulfilling responsibilities.
Program Phases and Duration Overview
- Level One (14 weeks): Recovery Residents engage in classes that recognize and transform destructive thoughts and beliefs. They gain insight into the basic needs that led to chemical use and acquire practical tools to effect positive change in their lives.
- Level Two (12 weeks): Renewal Residents actively participate in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual work to heal past wounds. This includes addressing failures, broken relationships, spiritual deceptions, and identity issues—common roots of chemical addiction.
- Level Three (12 weeks): Restoration and Healing Residents understand their life’s purpose and learn to step into a future free from the weight of past wounds. This phase establishes a robust foundation for the future while helping individuals identify and leverage their unique gifts and talents.
- Level Four (12 weeks): Transition Residents embark on practical steps to apply their newfound knowledge. This involves securing employment and housing, mastering time and resource management, and developing leadership skills to contribute positively to the families and communities they are re-entering.
